Conclusion

Based on the May 10-11 assessments, Anthony has greatly improved his reading level since the beginning of the school year. He began the year reading comfortably at a primer grade level.  His comprehension is also improving, as evidenced by his knowledge of word meanings as he was able to re-tell the story when key questions were asked.  I did notice that he has a hard time with contractions. I recommend an extra lesson that covers all the different contractions and how we use them in the English language.

Over the next few months, I will encourage Anthony to continue pursuing books that challenge his fluency and comprehension skills. I will have him write in a journal that focuses on contractions, what each one means, and how to use them in writing.
